Without delay, my prayers were answered. Day 1, Thursday afternoon the kids spent some time at the Zoo with friends. The friends part was totally unplanned, and it helped our babysitter out tremendously.
Day 2, Friday was spent with neighborhood friends. The kids found something to do all day, including dying Easter Eggs. They played basketball, in the backyard and watched a movie at our house. They moved onto the neighbor's house to play Wii, ride bikes and last, but not least, I took pictures of them in the bluebonnets beside our house.
In the evening, Kevin and I watched Julie and Julia (and there is nothing better than watching a movie about good food when you are 8 months pregnant with twins, except actually eat the food). That night I thanked God that Friday was indeed GOOD and asked for Saturday to turn out just as well again.
Saturday morning came and went pretty quickly, I slept for a good while and then ate leftover blueberry pancakes in bed (um yum). Around 11, we set out for the second annual Henderson Easter party and were among the greatest of friends. You can't find a better host for the whole family than Sarah Henderson. Complete with resurrection eggs, cupcakes, and an Easter Egg hunt, our kids were in Heaven (sugar heaven). As Kevin said, its the closest party he'll ever go to that is straight out of Southern Living. Little did I know that the party was just the beginning of the wonderful fellowship of our day.
After arriving home and lying down to give the twins a little room to move, I heard a knock at the door. I didn't answer because I figure it's a neighborhood child wanting to play. But thank God, our dear friends the Craftons didn't stop with a knock, they texted me and asked if we were near our house...I knew instantly that it was their knock that I had ignored. It was great to have a surprise guest, until I realized what they would see behind our front door.....a disaster. A kids-on-the-loose and parents-unable-to-keep-up mess. Dirty kitchen, dirty floors, toys in every direction, smelly trash, no toilette paper, the list could go on.... But, I decided to let my dear friend in anyway and she graciously came in armed with groceries for an Easter Lunch.
How thoughtful can a person be? Just an hour ago I was going on and on about getting to the grocery, Costco, Wal-mart, somewhere to get a few things, and now my friend, carrying her 2 month old on her hip, takes all 4 of her kids and husband and they wait for Mom to run in and get us an Easter Lunch. What angels they are! And to still be my friend after seeing what awaited them behind our door... we ended up having the best afternoon allowing our kids to play, sweet Channing even took a nap the whole time. They loaded our dishwasher and put together the last crib...just in time to pack everyone into the car and go to Easter service with Kevin and our kids. How sweet answered prayers are.
I thanked God that he had given us these Angels for the weekend, and their encouragement will last for many more. Thank you, Lord, for answered prayers. To your glory!
John 12:23 Jesus says:
The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified....v.26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!
Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
Jesus said," This voice was for your benefit, not mine."
